At home with COol MOther

I live on a four-acre property in rural, trying to be-suburban Elk Township in South Jersey with: husband, Dan — a pilot who built and flies an Avid Flyer two-seater — 

and daughter, Sue.

My sister Sue lives in Western Australia in the seaside village of Prevelly Beach, Margaret River (near Perth), where she is the proprietress of SEABREEZE, a holiday apartment with a balcony overlooking gardens, natural trees, the Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge, and the sea.

The family has won a number of awards in the Garden State Iris Society's annual show, held in May. Check out other Society events, and learn more about growing or just enjoying the "rainbow flower," at the GSIS home page (lots of color garden photos).

It's not just your grandmother's flag anymore. There are numerous types of irises: Japanese, Siberian, miniature, tall bearded, rebloomers, medians, species, aril, water, Pacific Coast, Spuria, crested, Dutch and my favorites, space-agers, to name a few.

GSIS is the New Jersey chapter of the American Iris Society.
