How to type an 'e' with an umlaut (dieresis) as in 'Risė'
A dieresis (umlaut) is a mark Ø ,
consisting of two dots, placed over a vowel to show it's pronounced as a
separate syllable.
Here's how to type one over an "e" on a computer keyboard:
-
Must have your keyboard
set to "Num Lock on."
-
Use the number keys in
the Num Lock section, to the right of the regular typing keys.
-
Hold down the “Alt”
key and type
0235.
-
An ė will appear!
This should work in nearly every program, including text-only.
